He wanted to kill himself by jumping off the statue on Charles Bridge. The negotiator saved him.

Prague had not seen an empty Charles Bridge in a long time. During the operation against a man who had climbed atop a statue on Charles Bridge and threatened suicide, the police evacuated the entire bridge.

The negotiation lasted for over an hour and a half. The man, who was a foreigner, alternated between standing and sitting on the statue, and it was unclear what he intended to do. He also tossed various objects, including a knife he carried with him. A firefighter in special gear examined the items as a precaution.

A tactical unit arrived on the scene in case negotiations broke down. In the end, however, the man was persuaded to climb down from the statue on his own. The police searched him and handed him over to doctors, who then took him for a medical examination.
