© AKTU.cz, Lukáš Dvořák, Lucie Dvořáková Two suspects triggered police patrols at the Faculty of Philosophy this afternoon. According to AKTU.cz, they were acting oddly and were reportedly endorsing the attack on the Faculty of Philosophy from December 2023, when a gunman killed 14 people.
Although there was no immediate danger according to the police, information from the internet revealed that two individuals roaming the faculty premises were endorsing the shooter’s actions and behaving suspiciously.
A larger number of police patrols arrived at the scene, detained both individuals, and took them to the station.
The shooting at the Faculty of Arts on December 21 was the most tragic event in the history of the Czech Republic. A student from this faculty shot 14 people before taking his own life after a police officer fired at him.
The incident was also covered by an AKTU.cz reporter, who tried to avoid drawing fire after the shooter began firing at people fleeing from the faculty. Reporter Jiří Forman emerged from cover and shouted at the shooter, urging him to shoot in his direction. The shooter indeed started shooting at the reporter. By diverting attention, many of those evacuated were able to reach safety.
The police leadership is facing enormous criticism in connection with the intervention at the faculty for failing to manage the overall operation and for poor performance, especially during the initial phase before the attack. According to available information, investigators already knew who the shooter was and noted several clear clues suggesting that the perpetrator might also have been the person who earlier in Klánovice shot a man and a child in a stroller. This was later confirmed.
