© AKTU.cz, Lukáš Dvořák, Lucie Dvořáková Two suspects triggered police patrols at the Faculty of Philosophy this afternoon. According to AKTU.cz, they were acting strangely and were reportedly planning an attack on the Faculty of Philosophy from December 2023, when a shooter killed 14 people.
Although there was no imminent danger according to the police, online sources revealed that two individuals roaming the faculty grounds were approving the shooter’s attack and behaving strangely.
A larger number of police patrols arrived at the scene, detained both individuals, and took them to the station.
The shooting at the Faculty of Arts on December 21 was the most tragic event in the history of the Czech Republic. The shooter, a student of this faculty, killed 14 people before, after being fired upon by a police officer, he committed suicide.
The incident also involved a reporter from AKTU.cz who attempted to provoke the shooter as he fired on people fleeing the faculty. Reporter Jiří Forman emerged from cover and shouted at the shooter, daring him to fire in his direction. The shooter indeed began shooting at the reporter, and this diversion enabled many evacuees to reach safety.
Police leadership is facing severe criticism in connection with the faculty incident for their failure to manage the operation and for the poor performance of the police, particularly in the initial phase before the attack. According to available information, investigators knew who the shooter was and there were several clear indications suggesting that he might be the same individual from Klánovice, where he shot a man and a child in a stroller. This was later confirmed.
