He fled from police officers who were investigating a missing man. He fell from a ledge.
© AKTU.cz On Tuesday, police carried out an operation on Gorazdova Street in Prague 2 in connection with the sudden disappearance of Jan Žďárský (58) from Prague, who had literally vanished on Friday. According to available information, detectives focused on a suspicious man from that area who was believed to have had some contact with the case. Investigating him was expected to provide answers as to whether someone else might be behind the disappearance.
A dramatic moment occurred when police officers arrived at the apartment of the man being searched. Just before they actually entered the apartment, the suspect decided to attempt a risky escape. He tried to flee through a window, fell from a height and suffered injuries incompatible with life. Despite the efforts of the emergency responders called to the scene, the man died at the scene.
In his apartment the police subsequently discovered an extensive, but legally held „arsenal of weapons“. According to information, it involved several firearms and an associated quantity of ammunition that the man had registered and licensed in accordance with the law. The discovery itself, however, raises questions about what this arsenal could have been used for and whether it could have played a role in the circumstances of Jan Žďárský's disappearance.
Detectives are now continuing to investigate the entire case. The suspect's death may significantly complicate the investigation because the police have lost an important source of information. It therefore remains unclear exactly what happened from the moment Žďárský was last seen and what role the man from Gorazdova Street played. The case remains open, and the police continue to investigate the circumstances of the mysterious disappearance.
