Firefighters from Stará Boleslav had to respond to an overturned truck in Prague-East
© AKTU.cz, Jiří Forman Near Mstětice in Prague-East, a serious-looking truck accident occurred on Tuesday evening, requiring a complex response by firefighters. The vehicle overturned onto its side off the road and diesel fuel began leaking from the damaged tank.
Shortly after half past six the road running past the village was closed due to an accident, traffic had to be diverted and the scene was secured by police. A truck with Romanian license plates apparently left the roadway after the driver did not fully pay attention to driving, came to rest leaning and then overturned into a ditch.
Professional firefighters from Stará Boleslav were mainly dealing on site with fuel leaking from the tank of the truck lying there. To get to it, they literally had to dig under the vehicle, secure the damaged area and stop further diesel leakage. They also took measures to prevent the substance from entering the surrounding environment and the drainage system.
According to the police, the accident occurred without injuries and the driver's breathalyzer test was negative. The man was fined at the scene for his conduct. At the time of the accident the truck was carrying empty crates, so no other cargo was damaged.
